Many interests, Less time!

I had a chat with one of my facebook friend the other day. We were chatting about our interests, hobbies and ambitions in our lives. I came to know that he shares most of my interests and hobbies! I felt glad to meet such a friend of similar tastes.

Other than science, I am also interested in things which a girl is usually interested in. Things like drawing, painting, playing keyboard, poetry, reading books, watching a lot of movies, swimming, riding a bicycle, craft work like making our own jewellery from scraps of old jewellery and so on…too many to list here. Every day another new interest which challenges my brain or amuses me is added into the list. Sometimes, I feel like making few of these hobbies as my career. Earn money by doing that hobby all my life. I want to become a writer. A librarian, so that I can keep reading all my life, lost in my own world with them. An artist, painting the reflection of a thought coming to my mind or captured by my soul. Starting business related to jewellery because a pretty woman always searches for something which compliments her beauty. Sometimes, I want to become a nutritionist. I love to own some acres of land and become a farmer from where I get most of my food which is organic. I love to teach, so I want to become a teacher. I love to travel, so I want to travel lot many places and want to teach as many students as possible in different states of my country.

There are many hobbies which I want to do all my life! Such things put me in confusion! I feel like, why do I even have these interests in my life? I feel happy for I can do a lot of things. But, then it bugs me because I have to leave most of them to pursue my chosen career after few years and don’t find time to do most of the things which I want to do. I know I can make some time for the things I want to do the most, but life doesn’t treat you fairly always.

I am jealous of those people who have one goal to reach in their life. I am jealous for they can put all the energy they have only to achieve it and not getting distracted from other things. I am jealous of people who have a clear vision about the thing which they feel as ‘life’ to them.

Wish, I had such clear vision to achieve something in particular, an absolute one. But, NO! I don’t have an absolute thing to reach in my life. I want to achieve many things, be many things in my life. I just wish, I knew the way! I hope, time can give me the answer which I need.

Look at our Educational System!

The picture says it all!
Since ages, as far as ‘I’ suppose, there is no progress in our Educational system. Children continue carrying loads of books on their back. They do not have any enthusiasm in learning things. Teachers keep on saying the theory, rather than , teaching the concepts in-practical. How long will it go? How long the children have to carry this burden?

“Taare Zameen Par” is the best example of how a typical child feels about the education. I’m not going to blame every teacher or every school/college for adopting this BAD system. But, I’m questioning that, why should we go and participate in such rat races? Why the children are not getting up early in the morning to learn something new?

It is good when we have a rivalry between two people about their knowledge. But, it is seriously a BIG mistake if there is a competition between their grades or marks! In most of the schools, the knowledge is measured with a scale called “grades”. Every single child has their own specific talent in some field!

Once, Einstein said, Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. How true it is! Not only IITians or MBBS students have the ability to feed their family. I pity that Education is merely used to do job and earn money for family. Education should be enjoyed in every stage of our life.

There is no age limit to ‘learn’ or ‘teach’ something. Rabindranath Tagore started painting in 1924 at the prime age of 63. Isn’t it amazing, how great people enjoyed the essence of learning something?

Recently, I read an article in our local newspaper ‘EENADU’, in which they stated that .. they did some changes in Intermediate 1st year and 2nd year syllabus. They reduced 50-100 pages in their textbooks.
What do they mean by that? Do they think, we learn the subjects with ease if they reduce some topics from text book? That’s insane! Hmm…

I’m not going to give ideas or judge about how the Education system should develop. May be, because I don’t have the right to do so. I just raise my voice that learning among children must be a regular habit and they should enjoy each and every stage of their life with education.

I still wish to see such generation!

If I have the chance to change something, then .. that would definitely be about our “Educational System” !

Plenty of information; Starving for knowledge.

Plenty of information; Starving for knowledge.

As it is exams time, I’m surrounded with books all the time. The thing I observed this week is, we have an ample of information, but starving for knowledge. Incessantly, my lecturers teach us only theory part.. and we have to visualize most of the things. Wish, I had practical knowledge, than theory. Then, I would never leave my studies at my desk itself. Rather, I would discuss about the knowledge which I got and share it with everyone.

Dreaming about how the studies should be taught is kinda fun! ;)

- Mugging up -

‘Mugging up’ is a term used to describe a person memorizing everything without knowing the meaning of what he’s reading. But unfortunately, the meaning of the term has been [like numerous other words] over- extended to indicate the act of any sincere, hard-working guy sitting and trying to learn for the next day’s big exam.

Its high-time for Exams! Students force themselves to study for better ranks. All the day long, they mug-up the dry matter from the text books. Why should we mug-up? Why can’t we just remember them at the first glance? Did Einstein Mug-up? If no, then how did he become genius? Who taught him all those things? Why studies are so hard to us?

Yes, there are endless questions buzzing in the minds of children. Now-a-days, students are given IIT coaching, medical coaching at their very small age. Guess what? They started giving courses right from the class 6!! I really wonder, what would they do with the equations like E = mc2 and x+iy=z, which are proved to be COMPLICATED themselves. Why teachers still concentrate on teaching theory? There is theory like an ocean for every subject. Why don’t they make films on particular important chapters, as they make Spiderman and Harry potter??

Are you really aware of this?? Our brain understands the language of pictures… So, why students are forced to mug-up after knowing the fact?? My question is simple… If what you are going to learn is not going to stay in your head, then what’s the use of learning?

I pity the educational system which is now running in few countries.

Yes, I know.. they are taking steps on this matter. But still, I could find a very less schools and colleges adopted it. Because of the fear of money and few other problems..

When I grow up, I hope this system changes. Every child must be introduced to practicality. They must be opened to their CREATIVE SIDE ! They should choose their career by themselves without having any confusion. In fact, “Today’s children are Tomorrow’s citizens.” ;)

Let’s hope for a better change in a student’s life!!

Good Luck for your Exams! :)
